I'll start! I participated in JA's office in Neenah/Menasha, Wisconsin in the mid '80s. The first year my JA company assembled car safety kits (flashlight, reflectors, orange safety triangle, etc.) we had chosen from a JA supplier catalog. I believe I was voted "Secretary" that year (the equivalent of VP of Human Resources now).

My second year we assembled cassette holders out of wooden dowels that also came in a kit from a catalog. I remember those more vividly because it took weeks to glue them all together. My parents still have a couple of them!

We also got to sell our products on JA Day at the Port Plaza Mall in Green Bay, Wisconsin and at the end of the JA program we wrapped up with a party/dance at a local hotel.

My brother Ian and I were in JA in Northern Indiana (Elkhart to be specific). If I recall correctly, our first JA Company made costers out of floor tiles. LOL!

I did three company programs with high school students from around Boston, MA hosted at different area colleges.

The first company was called Spotlight Productions and we created a talent/fashion show call Spotlight JAMS. Our costs were huge, but thanks to some donations and good guidance we managed to break even (including wages and a good return on the stock investment).

The second company was the Boston Candy Cartel - our product, a high-end chocolate assortment in a large ceramic mug, wrapped and decorated in one of three distinct styles. The product was marketed as a great corporate gift for the holidays and we got to present at a JA Board Meeting. The orders came flying in, it was awesome. Then we had to build and deliver them - wow, that was hard work, We had to pull late nights together as a team, but we managed to meet our schedule and deliver what we promised.

The last company was Loose Tooth Candy Company - taking a cue from the success of the previous year, we generated a spring/Easter themed candy assortment, placed it in a glass jar, and decorated the glass to convey our themes. The product was marketed toward high school students and was not received as well as we had hoped.

Our "company" was in Sandusky, OH....many of our competitions and classes were held in the Toledo office though. We made and sold placemats and coasters screen printed on vinyl I believe. We were sponsored by the Chrysler plant there in Sandusky.

A valve for automatic watering of watering boxes. Quite a niche product so we really got to practice the presentation for all the Juries not that interested in watering boxes.. The product development was long a tedious and we never quite got it right... Won Company of the year in Denmark in 2001 though and I learned oh so much.

I participated in student company programme suring my secondary school in Estonia.
My first company produced stickers that were actually reflectors, second company produced keyholders and my third company was the most successful one - R@. We produced coverd computer mice and we got second price in JA-YE European Student company competition in Malta (year was 2004). Later we have been in a European commission movie that was promoting student companies in Europe.
It was really great time :)
